Chris Heathman
FOUNDER & GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER
Chris is a licensed professional engineer (P.E. in WA) with over 17 years of experience developing geotechnical recommendations for highway infrastructure, foundations, and retaining walls in diverse and challenging geologic and seismic design conditions. Chris has a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology and Civil Engineering. He went on to obtain his Masters of Science in Civil Engineering in 2006 and PE license in 2009. When he’s not juggling client phone calls and work meetings, Chris swims laps, and loves hiking and skiing the slopes of Washington.

Alex Yannello
STAFF GEOLOGIST, GIT
Alex is a native Washingtonian who has spent much of his life outdoors. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2019 with a degree in Geosciences and a minor in Environmental Studies. Alex spent two summers performing research on and around Mount Rainier’s glaciers. With a unique background as a scientist and enrolled member in one of western Washington’s American Indian tribes, Alex enjoys learning about the complex geologic history of this state and connecting the science to traditional ecological knowledge. In his spare time, Alex enjoys getting outside with his wife and dog or relaxing on the couch with their four cats.

Hannah Anderson
ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONAL
Recently graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Chemistry, Hannah currently specializes in stormwater infiltration and hydrogeology. She is passionate about our native Pacific Northwest flora and you will often find her in the field using botanical identifications to tell you more about your property and the environmental processes occurring on it.. In her spare time you can find Hannah enjoying the great outdoors of Western Washington by skydiving or exploring BLM land in her trusted Toyota Tacoma nicknamed “Sandy”.

Edward Vlasenko
STAFF GEOLOGIST
Edward recently completed Central Washington University’s geology graduate program, where he investigated different hydrologic fluxes in a restored stream watershed. During his graduate tenure, he also assisted the local municipality in an ongoing seasonal groundwater monitoring project. A lifelong resident of Washington State, Edward equally enjoys exploring the outdoors and lounging around inside with a screen. In his free time, he will often be found either walking his dog, “Pooch”, or adventuring through a virtual world.

Maria Cools
STAFF GEOLOGIST
Maria is a native Washingtonian who recently graduated with her Bachelor's in Geoscience from Pacific Lutheran University. During her undergraduate studies Maria spent time studying sediment deposits in Washington and mapping lava flows in Hawaii. Maria is passionate about learning more about geology and engineering and how these two things can improve the sustainability and development of Washington State. In her free time, Maria enjoys challenging herself with rock climbing, pursuing creative projects at home, or packing up for the weekend to explore more of Washington.

Calie Rose
FIELD GEOLOGIST
Calie recently graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelors of Science in Geosciences. Along with undergraduate courses, Calie spent the summer of 2021 studying the changing glacial surface environment of Emmons Glacier in Mount Rainier National Park. She was tasked with examining the relationship between the debris cover conditions and the plant life. Calie also had the unique opportunity to spend three weeks in Iceland mapping the island's volcanic history. While obtaining her degree, Calie spent four years as a goalkeeper for the PLU Women's Soccer Program. In her free time, Calie loves exploring her home state of Washington, hiking, and camping.

Baylee Fontana
FIELD GEOLOGIST
Baylee is a 2022 Graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. During Baylee’s undergrad, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience, a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, and a minor in Business Administration. Some of Baylee’s undergraduate research entailed studying the impact of gold mining contaminants on the Ecuadorian Amazon and conducting summer research atop Mount Rainier. Baylee’s summer research investigated how the topography of Emmons Glacier changed over time in response to varying debris cover thickness atop the glacial surface. Baylee enjoys outdoor adventuring, concerts, and attending CrossFit in her free time.

Makenzie Anderson
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT & MARKETING SPECIALIST
Makenzie earned her Bachelors in Marketing and Advertising with a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies from Grand Canyon University. During her college career, Makenzie interned at multiple marketing agencies across the U.S. Graduating Summa Cum Laude, she uses her marketing background and experience to manage website development, search engine optimization, and business expansion for the company. Makenzie also wears many hats, including performing functions in HR, client services, and administration. In her free time, Makenzie loves everything outdoors, especially camping, rock climbing, and skiing.
